, 29, is the President and Chief Executive Officer of 1st Choice Communications Group, Inc.
Dan is a native of Chicago, Illinois and even though he has already gained tremendous success as a businessman, he did not begin in business. In December of 1993, Dan was licensed to minister while only being seventeen years old. Later, in 1999, he became ordained as an Elder. Thus, Dan’s ministry of deliverance and economic empowerment has allowed him to grace pulpits and boardrooms across the country and abroad.
In 1994, after completing high school, Dan attended Chicago State University where he studied business administration and marketing. He also studied communications and organizational leadership at Trinity International University. Dan immediately began utilizing his unique background of evangelism and business sense when he secured a position as senior account executive for Crawford Broadcasting Company, the parent company for two gospel radio stations, WYCA & WYBA. After only six months at the station, Dan became the top sales person. He maintained this status until he left in August of 2001. In September of 2002 Midway Broadcasting (WVON Radio) hired Dan Johnson as General Sales Manager. Under his leadership, supported by his exceptional ability to negotiate, the annual sales revenue of the station increased 34% in just one year.
By that time, however, Dan already knew he had a proclivity towards success in business. In 1998, at the age of twenty-three, he started and managed a dry cleaning business called Executive Dry Cleaning Solutions, Inc. The first year he ran the business as a pick-up and delivery cleaning service. As a result of divine providence and an exponential growth in clients due to Dan’s exceptional customer service and reliability, Dan opened and operated a walk-in facility located on the south side of Chicago. Before selling the business in 2003, Dan’s dry cleaners had a clientele of over 4,000 customers.
Dan has achieved great success not only in business development and sales, but also in marketing and promotions. Dan, for example, served as the executive producer and promoter of the hit gospel stage play “What’s to Come is Better Than What’s been!” written by Bishop Larry D. Trotter and co-staring gospel sensation Marvin Sapp. More recently, Dan served as marketer and promoter of the play “Hopeville” staring gospel superstars Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, and Donnie McClurkin. Other clients include, Allstate Financial, Midwestern Telecommunications, Inc., ACT2 Records, Power & Dixon, P.C., and a host of ministers including Bishop Larry D. Trotter, Bishop Willie L. Jordan, Apostle R.D. Henton, and Bishop J. Delano Ellis.
Dan is able to manage his marketing and promotion business because he does practically all of his own printing. Dan founded and operates his own marketing and printing company called 1st Choice Communications Group.
Most recently, Dan was appointed the Director of Marketing Operations in the United Pentecostal Churches of Christ under the leadership of Bishop Larry D. Trotter. With this appointment, Dan Johnson will oversee all marketing operations, nationally and internationally, for the more than six hundred churches in the denomination.
